چکیده

A pseudotetrahedral cobalt(II) complex with a positive axial zero-field splitting parameter of D = 12.7 cm(-1), as determined by high-field EPR spectroscopy, is shown to exhibit slow magnetic relaxation under an applied dc field.

Slow magnetic relaxation in mononuclear seven-coordinate cobalt(II) complexes with easy plane anisotropy.

Two mononuclear seven-coordinate cobalt(II) complexes [Co(L)3(NO3)2] (L = 4-tert-butylpyridine, 1; L = isoquinoline, 2) were prepared and structurally analyzed by single-crystal X-ray crystallography. The coordination spheres of 1 and 2 exhibit distorted pentagonal bipyramid geometry. Analysis of their direct-current magnetic data reveals the existence of easy plane anisotropy (D > 0) with a sm...

Field-induced slow relaxation of magnetization in a tetrahedral Co(II) complex with easy plane anisotropy.

The mononuclear Co(II) complex CoBr (dmph = 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline) was obtained and X-ray structurally characterized as a distorted tetrahedron environment that is responsible for the moderately strong positive anisotropy of high spin Co(II). In combination with variable-field magnetic susceptibility data at low temperature, high-field electron paramagnetic resonance (HF-EPR) spectro...

Exposing the intermolecular nature of the second relaxation pathway in a mononuclear cobalt(II) single-molecule magnet with positive anisotropy.

The investigation of a pentagonal bipyramidal Co(ii) complex with large positive anisotropy (D ≈ +30 cm(-1)) revealed field induced Single-Molecule Magnet behaviour with Ueff ≈ 50 K at 1.0 kOe. This compound belongs to a group of only a handful of complexes which exhibit this unique magnetic property while possessing easy-plane anisotropy. At high applied fields, a second relaxation process wit...

Supramolecular control over molecular magnetic materials: γ-cyclodextrin-templated grid of cobalt(II) single-ion magnets.

Single-ion magnets (SIMs) are potential building blocks of novel quantum computing devices. Unique magnetic properties of SIMs require effective separation of magnetic ions and can be tuned by even slight changes in their coordination sphere geometry. We show that an additional level of tailorability in the design of SIMs can be achieved by organizing magnetic ions into supramolecular architect...

A trigon structure formed by submonolayer gadolinium deposition onto Au(111) is revealed as a robust growth template for cobalt nanodot arrays by Frederik Schiller and co-workers in article 1600187. The cobalt nanoislands behave as independent magnetic entities with an out-of-plane easy axis of anisotropy and enhanced magnetic anisotropy values, as compared to other self-organized cobalt nanodo...
